Sandy Simon is a studio potter, well-known in Berkeley, California, as owner of TRAX Gallery. Simon was a student at the University of Minnesota in the late 1960s, studying under Warren MacKenzie and Curt Hoard. She has taught at the Art Institute of Chicago, Purdue University, the University of Indiana in Bloomington, the Appalachian Center for Crafts and at more than 100 workshops nationwide and abroad. She has been called one of the all-time best potters in America today.

Simon keeps her forms minimal, thus highlighting the landscape of a form, the detailed addition of wire handles, or subtle alterations including cutting, piercing, seeds, and thread. Her pots feel modern, yet familiar and comforting. “I want my pots to express spontaneity and suggest use, creative ways to display and serve food”.

This teapot will grace your table for years to come, both useful and collectible. Dark clay is painted with a slip and glazed to a beautiful gloss finish in tones of yellow-green and dark chocolate. Waxed thread is attached to the top with a colorful, hard seed as the finishing touch.
